I hold a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and a certificate in Literary Fiction from the University of Washington. I've been nominated several times for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net, and was selected for inclusion in the 2019 Best Small Fictions anthology. My nearly 200 creative writing pieces have appeared in print and online in places like The Rumpus, PANK, The Washington Post, F(r)iction,The Kitchn, and elsewhere. I was the 2018/2019 Pen Parentis Fellow, a recipient of a 2019 Artist Trust GAP award, and am currently working on my first (and second) novel.
I'm available to edit and consult on your writing projects, be they short works, novels, or college essays. I am also happy to partner with you, your company, or nonprofit on communications and writing projects. I have worked for 17 years in nonprofit communications experience and kept a book-focused blog for four years. Here's some info on this type of work.
When not doing things associated with writing (this is rare), I can be found riding my bike, running, trying to learn the ukulele, pining for New York, intellectually sparring with my young daughter, and occasionally swinging on the flying trapeze (really.)
You can call me "Jen" and my pronouns are she / her. If you reach out, please let me know what yours are.
